Those rainy days

Most of the days we were walking to school during the month that I visited were okay, dry and sunny. There was occasionally a hint of some kinds of weather coming but there was mostly good temps and smiling faces. Sweating faces even. It was sometimes miserable to be honest in the very beginning of summer over there.

Rainy days still appeared. The whole town and what felt like the country would be under a full day of rain in an instant. In a day like this, mostly school days, we would wake up and get ready like usual. We would come down to see the group and noticed everyone hiding under the canopy. There was a muggy feel to these days where the AC or something didn’t click right. Some of the doors were open indefinitely, so that might have been the problem.

I might have walked from the hostel to the local convenient store in search for a pancake food or a monster. The life and blood of the morning over here. The search might have been right around a corner in a vending machine though.

If this was a school day too then we were usually hard pressed to get in gear and head out. Some of us would hit the metro and others would….still walk. There were umbrellas everywhere though as they were basically the importance of a cellphone with custom lockers and rentals. The group that walked would use what they have and walk on out. The few that took the metro were ready for the morning rush hour traffic. This wasn’t something to take lightly but it wasn’t impossible either. Manage time and hit the lanes. Get in and out. Before you know it, you’ve arrived at the local station that was really close to the school.

We’d all meet and show up at the automatic doors to the from of the building. Some soaked and others dry as a whistle. Up we go to our little class room. Here we see the magic of a rainy day on the other side of the world. As cliche as it might be, this did have a mood to it. We watched the rain fall as class proceeded and memorized it. Most of the trip was a mental challenge to ‘remember’ what happened.

When the class had a small break, we sat near the window to observe. The city is so much building than nature that the rain seemed to help the city grow instead. Astonishing when most of the area is concrete. The green, where is was, popped and looked refreshing to see especially in the rain.

The rain makes me sleepy. The day was calm, easy, and peaceful.

It was a good day.
