It’s 5 a.m. in Tokyo.

I can’t wait to get out of bed. I’m currently in the worst state of jet lag, but I manage.

The light, being the county of the rising sun, shines like nothing I’ve ever seen before though the lightly curtained window in this little hostel room that we’ve rented out. The room lacks a fan; I need this to sleep properly, but I manage. The temperature in the room is acceptable and the forecast for Japan this month is… hot. Very hot. あつい(Hot Temperature).

Everyone is gone; they went to eat breakfast quickly so they can start this Japanese adventure. Of course this trip is a “class” for a “course” and a “grade” but the free time we had was revealed in seconds.

I greet the shopkeepers. おはようございます!(Respective Hello) We bow, a slight bow, and continue. The hostel has bread but this bread has been graced by the gods because it single handedly kept this group of young adults alive for 3 weeks. Butter, jelly, and a large cup of any beverage was always available in the morning. Incredible.

“We can do anything…” is what each and every one of us thought. The possibilities seemed endless as the calendar met our eyes, together. “3 weeks!”, we all agreed was a wonderful amount of time left on this trip. The school days would hold our attention for about 3 hours each day that we had school throughout the week. Our professor confirmed that the free time would be abundant.

I look to my phone and WiFi device to connect me to some kind of satellite and let me talk to my folks. It’s the evening there. They wish me luck as they can hardly believe I’m on another continent than them. We used video chat for a fuller effect. My Samsung Note 4 ,at the time, was a fantastic device for this purpose on top of doing all the multimedia recording on this trip.

I geared up with 2 other people and set out to walk the streets of Tokyo. At 6 a.m. in the morning. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
